Software-Defined WAN (SDWAN)
Today, every company needs a fast, reliable, and secure enterprise network to work effectively and exchange data securely. If there is only one site in your organization, data exchange can take place through local area network (LAN), German local network). However, if you have your corporate networks in different locations, or if you are planning an expansion, you won’t get far with LAN.
With WAN (Wide Area Network, on German long-distance network), you can connect your different locations perfectly across a wide geographic area. SD-WAN is a better and safer variant than conventional WAN.
We at the BPV Group use VeloCloud’s reliable VMware SD-WAN for our customers. Unlike traditional WAN, our SD-WAN has a software overlaythat manages all connection, security, and network information. With a centralized control, we can manage multiple WAN connections at the same time. This eliminates the need to program each endpoint individually when changes are made. Another big plus for the SD-WAN is the connection type. Both WAN and SD-WAN have a physical connection.
However, the SD-WAN connection has a virtualized objectthat is abstracted from the physical connection and is above the physical one. Virtualized connections, i.e. apparent connections, are nothing more than data packet mediation. Unlike physical connections with end-system connections, no services are provided here, but the data packets are provided on a virtual level and communicated to different customers as required. This will improve the utilization of IT resources. With the SD-WAN, data can be easily moved from one device to the next.
